Workforce Leadership Academy

United Way of Central Maryland was selected as a site by the Aspen Institute to be a location for a workforce development leadership academy. Currently recruiting. (

Joanne asked about the time commitment–a range of in person and zoom meetings.

Still accepting applications.

Paul’s Place: Application for Restart property management training will go live next week–will send a flyer for recruitment . Also always taking applications for the culinary arts training program for Groundwork Kitchen. Restaurant has relaunched–cafe is open three days a week and will open for five days a week with indoor dining starting in February.

MOED: hiring for warehouse ($26/hr) and forklift operators ($29/hr) for Domino Sugar–will be holding a recruitment event. Horseshoe Casino is also hiring for food service and table games, will send out the flyer as well.

VSP/Lifebridge: accepting referrals for training pathways in healthcare program. Will soon be moving into the opening Factory building–along with Center for Hope (violence response intervention center), Innovation Works, Byte Back, Project Jumpstart, So What Else, and NAAMI

JOTF: beginning a search to find out where the needs are for additional training programs. Want to branch out beyond construction but want to find out what is needed and where are the job openings, especially for folks with a criminal records, and where there are family supporting wages. They will then expand the Better You curriculum to support that training. Lisa suggested looking at Medical Assistance Training.

Bon Secours: recruiting for staff (workforce development manager and employment coordinator), Clean and Green and Clean Corps programs, and CNA/GNA program.

HABC: holding information sessions and recruitment for residents

UMB: UMB hosting third cohort of the Humanim Administrative Assistant training program.
