Historic Buildings in Poppleton – Updates on voted-on next steps

  • Organize a walkthrough to identify historic properties in the next 2-3 weeks
    • Carrie will be putting this together 
  • Write a letter requesting a demolition moratorium (as the SWP, a request of the Board)
  • Write a letter asking that the developer be held to the terms of the mitigation agreement, and that the agreement be extended until the terms have been completed  (as the SWP, a request of the Board)

  • Thomas asks about deconstruction of buildings prior to demolition

Updates and Announcements

    • Malachi Mills – Carrie 
      • SWP received grant funding to do a deep dive research on Mr. Mills and the house. We are under contract with a local historian, Courtney Hobson, to start this research in May
    • St Luke’s
      • Asking for funding to stabilize foundation
      • Last year received a Heritage Fund Grant
        • Building Assessment Report
        • Feasibility Study  
        • Major water leaks repaired
        • Water in soil basement; could lead to catastrophic failure
          • Engineers report completed 4/13/2021 – $17k in repairs
        • Floor of bell tower caving in – $6k in repairs
      • Has SWP asked for state funding for this project before?
        • Ann and Jane will send their prior grant applications for language
