Southwest Community Organizing Workshop For Schools
On August 20th the Southwest Partnership and LeaderComm are holding a workshop to help community members learn how to support and strengthen neighborhood schools. The workshop will be held at the Southwest Baltimore Charter School located at 1300 Herkimer St. Baltimore MD, 21230.
LeaderComm is a non-profit focused on community leadership development which formed out of Communities in Schools, a national community school organization and model. Their method is based on “The 3 Rs”: Relationships, Routers and Rewards. Relationship development identifies key organizations, people or groups that can help with providing resources. Routers are people or organizations that serve as the central communication channel that connects to key relationships. Rewards are focused on collaborative support of all the funding organizations to promote a group reward system.
The Southwest COWS workshop will include strategic visioning, knowledge-transfer, personal coaching, training and leadership development. The Southwest Partnership is dedicated to creating opportunities for community members that support the SWP Vision, by creating safe neighborhood streets, affordable housing, education, workforce development and commercial development. This is an exciting opportunity to recruit more planners, organizers, and problem-solvers to strengthen area schools
Effective mentoring programs and community involvement in schools create positive impact in young people’s lives, make schools stronger and more effective, and benefit the entire community. This workshop will serve as an introduction to a longer series of workshops being and while community members are encouraged to attend the entire series they are not required to begin making impacts in area schools! We’re very excited about the increased opportunities for community members to have an impact in and for Southwest Partnership area schools.
