Program Updates
Released SWP RFP for workforce training programs, received four applications. Awards will be made this month.
Amanda asked about financial support for families to advance their goals and further their education–she will connect with Lisa.
There have been staffing changes at the SWP–Rachel will be working part time and focusing more on the program management side of Southwest Works, Lisa will continue to provide direct workforce development services.
The Committee discussed what they would like to see from the SWP in terms of workforce development programming. Amanda sees a real need for the one on one coaching Lisa provides. We have also seen a real need for case management especially around housing and mental health resources.
Committee discussed resources to support families that SLYC works with.
Also a need for local hiring–would like to see more local businesses to hire locally.
