Howard was re-elected Chair of the Committee.
Howard shared updates from the Southwestern District Police meeting. Police are aware of hotspots for drug dealing, and are working to address ongoing drug activity. There have been crackdowns in portions of the district as part of a larger strategy.
Police are aware of the rise in car jackings and are encouraging community members to be watchful and cautious. Don’t leave the car running if you are not in it or the doors are unlocked and keep valuables out of the car or out of view.
Committee talked about community safety challenges and how to get community members involved the in committee. We discussed the importance of activities that are not meetings. Next “meeting” will be a community safety walk on November 29th at 5:30pm. The Committee also discussed holding events, potentially with Lifebridge providing mobile health services, and coordinating clean ups with neighborhood associations.
