Most of the research on why people leave jobs does not look at low income workers. Is designing a research project to ask people why they leave. Roundtable discussed options for partnerships with providers/employers including Groundwork Kitchen,

West Baltimore Renaissance Foundation Update

WBRF is managing grant funds to address social determinants of health in West Baltimore. Kurt shared WBRF slide deck. Focus on giving in four core zip codes in West Baltimore. Make community grants (smaller) and programming grants–workforce development, food access, youth mentoring, and population health. Kurt shared data and priorities for WBRF funded projects and organizations, as well as major takeaways from their giving–wrap around services, food access, health resources are all major needs.

Lisa asked about community school strategy–have seen success with the expansion of the strategy.

UMB Grant Writing Resources

Chrissy Stegman is the new UMB grant writer who is available to support local organizations in grant writing. To request support email at cstegman@umaryland.edu, and she will send out a form to schedule a meeting.

Debra asked about time spent with a community partner? Will depend on the need, and the goal is to spend the time needed to meet the partner’s need.

Maintains a repository of available grant resources–could this sharing be more formalized.
