Project Updates
Letter of Support for 1100 Wicomico Building Project for Historic Tax Credits. Want to open up first floor to put retail space in and renovate building for more tenants. Citizens of Pigtown is in support. The Committee is in support of writing a letter, which will be presented to the SWP Board Meeting tomorrow. The Committee talked about the history of the building.
Malachi Mills: still working through the foreclosure process, moving along slowly but moving.
W Baltimore St has been re-paved, bricks along the sidewalk still need to be re-layed.
Mapping: Scott and Elizabeth still need to keep working on, a UMBC student will be willing to help us develop an attractive digital map
1 N. Carey St: SWP will send a letter to the developer expressing reservations
Lord Baltimore Theater: SWP will move forward with attempting to purchase the building (1.1 million, 90 day period for study, CHAP has to approve leveling the floor). Goal is for a project like the Patterson/Creative Alliance Theater, run by a separate non-profit/board.
CHAP Updates
1000 W Lombard St continuing to go to court to fight adhering to the city’s historic district standards. Will lose zoning in a year or so as in R8 zoning district under the current zoning laws. Community members need to put in complaints if they are concerned about activity at the store
Scott thinks the SWP should have a lawyer who could sue the city (or the community law center should be approached by the neighborhood association)
Former Southwestern Police Station at 200 W Calhoun, owners would like to turn the building into a school don’t have contractors identified
1414, 1614 W Pratt demolition approved, deconstructing carriage house of 1327 Booth St
