President’s Remarks 

    • Lifebridge Vote
  • Donnell made motion to invite Lifebridge to join the board as an anchor – similar to the other anchors, seconded by Edith
  • Laura and Abigail requested we discuss the Governance update before discussing the Lifebridge vote. Donnell withdrew his motion to allow for Governance to report out.
  • Governance Committee Report
    • Chuck reported that the Governance Committee is discussing a procedure to elect/ add the 3 new At-Large Community Representatives as well as the By-Laws changes that will be required to fulfill this requirement.
    • Governance is also continuing the review of the bylaws and will hopefully bring the first round of updates to the June meeting – to be voted on in July.

    • discussing mental health issues and identifying gaps at the schools and also regionally.
    • Appealing the decision to close Steuart Hill
    • Interns are working and attended the recent discussion of the MLK crossing at Baltimore Street held at the CEC and offered new perspective and great feedback – They will be at SOWEBO
    • DEI Consultants Report – Questions were asked about the DEI Consultants Report at the Education meeting. Committee members asked about the timeline for the report to be shared.
  3. -Historic Preservation
    • Fire on 1500 Block of West Baltimore Street – We lost 3 buildings including one business and housing. 
      • The fire started in a vacant building.
      • Luckily no one was injured but we need to do more to protect life and property by getting vacant property back to productive use quickly and protect it by keeping it properly boarded while it is vacant.
    • CHAP district – Black Homeownership in Old Poppleton | Context 
    • Grants to apply for – 
      • Heritage Investment Grant – BNHA – 1504 W Baltimore St
      • African American Heritage Preservation Program MHT – Bruce St Stable

    • Brian serving as Interim Director of Community Engagement as they conduct a search.

    • Thanks to all that attended the pedestrian safety project discussion.

    • breaking ground on a new cancer center – 9 stories @ Green Street
    • Farmers Market on Tuesdays from 10-2
    • COVID is not over – please get vaccinated and boosted
