SWP Board Meeting Minutes

  •  Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes (Scott)
      1. Motion to approve minutes from October (Jane), Rebecca 2nd:  All in favor 
  • Governance Updates (Rebecca)
      1. Term limits: Governance Committee would like the board to vote on the concept of term limits for board members to guide them as they develop detailed language to amend the bylaws.. They will return with language to vote to amend the bylaws in the early part of the new year.
        1. Discussion: Most are in favor of trying this in order to bring in new people and encourage more participation in the board. Some are concerned that we will lose valuable knowledge and participation.
        2. Motion to vote on the concept of term limits. (Rebecca), Melanie 2nd:  Scott, Laura, Melanie, and Jeff Against, All others in favor.
        3. Suggest a retreat in the first quarter of the new year to discuss further how to encourage additional participation and recruitment
      2. Orientation: Tony presented an orientation for board members. Including 
        1. an overview of the organization
        2. His personal history and commitment to our neighborhood
        3. Staffing plans
        4. Budget
        5. Property owned
        6. Project status
        7. Responsibilities of board members
          1. A reminder to disclose any conflicts
          2. And a request for each board member to make a financial contribution to illustrate our commitment and assist with fundraising.
  • Upcoming Events/ Open Forum 
      1. Capitol Improvement Program 101  – Orientation to the City process will be held at the Factory tomorrow evening.
      2. Home Ownership Workshop on Saturday at the SWP office
      3. Howard reminded everyone to lock your cars and leave them empty to reduce burglaries.
      4. The City has cleaned up the debris on the 300 blk of Carrollton!
