United Way of Central Maryland Economic Development Brings Workforce Training to Our Community
Ariel Keene and Jhonette Ireland shared about training that was now available to community members. The types of training are listed below. Their partners include The Soul of Medicine (healthcare training), Shura, Inc. (PCP services) and Howard Community College (childcare training). Currently the healthcare trainings are being held at The Soul of Medicine’s location at 5910 York Road, 2nd floor). The childcare training is online. Participants have access to wrap around services including bus tokens to get back and forth to training. To be eligible for this free training, applicants must be SNAP-eligible and have a high school diploma. UWCM will be doing outreach through their new Family Center at Excel Academy. They are also working with the leaders at Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy where The Soul of Medicine currently teaches to bring the training to the school’s campus with the intention of offering classes after the school day ends. We should have a decision in another week.
