JR: what are some things the community can do to reduce the level of teen violence. Ofc Owens–work with Boys and Girls Clubs on their teen programs–do have summer program as well as an out of school time program. Police are starting an Explorers Program. JR asked if there was a plan to start a special task force to support young people involved in crimes–Southern District is working on redeploying bike program. Committee discussed a mismatch between police deployment and locations he’s identified as having high levels of drug activity. Ofc Owens will share the issues with the shift commanders. Patty thanked Ofc Owens as there has been a decrease in crime in the area.
