Executive Director’s Report – Elizabeth

    • Executive Director’s Report
    • A letter is being drafted to the BDC and to the owner of the shopping center regarding the closure of Price Rite. 
      • Jane Shaab – Copy Justin Williams on the letter.
      • Scott – Do we need to vote on the letter or can we empower the Exec Committee to handle it.
      • Kim – gave some updates – They are trying to bring a new grocery store. The company closed the store because it was not profitable.
      • Kris – Questions if changes to the PUD will affect anything beyond the shopping center.
      • Kim & Jeff LaNoue – confirm – No. The PUD is only for the shopping center.
      • Chuck would like to see the letter before it is sent.
  • Motion by Chuck for the Executive Committee to draft a letter to send – to be sent to the board via email for review and for the EC to be empowered to send the letter pending any issues., seconded by Jane → all approve.
    • Proposed Board Only Meeting Schedule – February, April, June, September.
  • Bill – Do we need to vote or is assent enough – All agreed assent is enough and the schedule is fine – No one opposed.

 

Budget Review and Approval

    • Elizabeth presented the draft budget. Includes: 
      • ED @ Tony’s salary
      • Marketing manager
      • Insurance is up because of property value
    • Ryand – Does the budget have inflation baked in for 2023 related to operational expenses?
    • Chris – We do try as much to consider up to 10% increase on operating expenses
    • Kris – are we going to use a search firm for ED – is this cost in budget?
      • No but we do have a savings due to not having an ED at the moment.
      • We will need to revisit that expense when a decision is made
  • Motion to approve by Laura – 2nd by Rebecca – All in favor.

Governance Committee

  • Sonia nominated Chuck to continue as Chair of the committee – Rebecca 2nd 

 

Fund Development Committee

  • We need to reestablish this committee but we do not have a chair in mind – Thoughts?
    • Chris recommends checking with John Springer (PNC Bank). He was previously interested
    • Scott volunteered to convene the group until a permanent chair is found:

    • They took a group of kids to the B&O for the Polar Express last night – had a great time.
    • The CEC will be closed through the rest of the year.
  • B&O Railroad Museum – Kris – Enjoyed having the CEC kids for the Polar Express
    • They will be open tomorrow night from 5-8
  • Lifebridge Health – Rebecca – Happy Holidays

      • City School held a transition process meeting
      • The Judge recommended their appeal be denied
        • filed an exception with the State School Board
    • Dotie – question about the youth interns – what are they doing?
      • Elizabeth – Each is different – It is a youth led internship. The youth were presented with a variety of choices and each selected what interested them. For specific questions contact Emil Curry, managing the internship program, emil@swpbal.org
